The Garden Roots Christmas Carnival

Experience the beauty of Plettenberg Bay during the summer, for a festive season holiday that will prove to be truly remarkable. The upcoming Garden Roots Christmas Carnival welcomes the whole family to enjoy a day of live local entertainment that includes music performances by Serrotone, Wonderboom and the ever popular Prime Circle, one of South Africa’s most successful rock/alternative bands. There will be festive entertainment for kids too and an unmistakable Christmas atmosphere all round. South Africa is also known for its excellent, home brewed craft beers, which visitors can look forward to trying out on the day from various craft beer stands, in addition to some alluring gin bars and other beverage and food stalls with a delicious selection to choose from. Tickets cost R 75 for kids and R 195 for adults.
EdenValley Sounds of Summer

It really is all about the music during summer, most notably so when enjoying a holiday in South Africa’s amazing Garden Route. The upcoming Sounds of Summer concert will take place on the Reedvalley outdoor stage in Mossel Bay and is the first of its kind. This event will play host to some incredible talents on the day and those attending can expect amazing live music, a fun filled atmosphere and stalls set up for drinks and food. The main act at EdenValley Sounds of summer event will be Jeremy Loops, a chart topping local artist that started on his path to fame in his hometown of Cape Town, and has continued to gain international recognition and success. Supporting local acts Sea of Green, Lonesome Rangers and Brighitte Dé add to the day’s entertainment. Early bird tickets: R 200, normal tickets: R 300, VIP tickets (limited): R 400, including light lunch, gin on tap and meeting the artists in the VIP lounge.
The Plettenberg Bay Cape Winelands Festival

Enjoy a relaxing afternoon while sampling the Cape’s finest wines. The Fat Fish, in partnership with Sanlam Private Wealth, is proud to announce the launch of the first Cape Winelands Festival in Plettenberg Bay on the 17th December. The event that will be hosted at The White House, is set to become an annual fixture on the Plett tourism calendar and offers festival-goers the opportunity to sample over 80 breathtaking bottles of wine from 15 of the Cape’s finest wine estates while enjoying a relaxed afternoon in one of Plettenberg Bay’s most beautiful venues. In addition to the quality tipple on show delicious, light meals will be available to purchase throughout the day courtesy of the team at Nguni. Estates that will be on show on the day include Ataraxia, Anura, Boschkloof, Doolhof, Diemersfontein, Fairview, Groote Post, Hartenberg, Kaapzicht, Moreson, Ormonde, The Post House, Strandveld, Weltevrede and Zewenwacht.
With a string of Diner’s Club Winelist awards behind him, owner of The Fat Fish, Simon Ash, is no stranger to the South African wine industry. Aside from it being a personal passion of his, decades in the hospitality trade have resulted in many close relationships with winemakers throughout the country. Holding the festival at the very start of our peak season will allow locals, our beloved annual swallows and holidaymakers alike the perfect opportunity to not only meet the makers but stock up on a wide selection of quality wines at cellar door prices for the festive period.

What better way to prepare for Christmas than to be part of a beautiful Carols by Candlelight festivity happening at The Redberry Farm in George? Bring your candles, picnic basket and family and enjoy carols, which start at 19h00.
The Knysna Blues Festival

This over 18’s event is perfect for blues music fans, with an incredible line-up of artists performing over the course of the day. For only R 300 a ticket and taking place in Knysna at the popular Mitchell’s Brewery, this festival is one for the books and won’t disappoint. The talented line-up of blues artists performing on the day will include The Black Cat Bones, The Albert Frost Trio, Boulevard Blues, The Fake Leather Blues Band, Basson Laubscher & the Violent Free Peace, James Smith and Michael Canfield. Kick back and relax for a day of musical discovery when visiting Knysna, with no shortage of great live music. The Knysna Blues Festival is a well loved, home-grown event that showcases upcoming talents, bringing people together in the Garden Route’s wonderful town of Knysna.
Ola Portugal Annual Portuguese Day

Join in the festivities of the Garden Route’s highly anticipated 2nd annual Ola Portuguese Day event, taking place at ReedValley in the inviting coastal destination of Mossel Bay. This Portuguese event will be a lively one, with live music and poetry readings on the outdoor stage, dancing under the warm African sun and expansive lawns set up with a jumping castle and jungle gym forming the kids play area. As with any Portuguese festival, traditional Portuguese cuisine will be in tall supply and there will even be a special food menu just for kids. Ice cold beers, gin on tap and a unique Portuguese festival wine range will also be available to those attending the festival on the day. Come through for a day of fun in the sun, and see why this event was such an incredible success last year. Best of all, entry is free!
Christmas Day lunch at the Garden Route Game Lodge

Enjoy a delicious and traditional Christmas feast when visiting the Garden Route for a festive holiday stay, hosted at the stunning Garden Route Game Lodge. With a beautiful setting of the surrounding Langeberg Mountains and viewings of the Big 5 available, this family safari destination is both naturally alluring and very contemporary. At 11 am on Christmas day, a lunch will be available for only R 375 per person, while a lunch and game drive combo can be booked for R 570 per person. The hearty Christmas lunch feast will include seafood such as calamari and West Coast mussels, an array of veggies, appetizers, salads and sides, as well as roast chicken and lamb, smoked gammon and a carvery. Rotary Knysna SPLASH Festival

This family orientated event and water-based festival caters to the whole family and is packed with activities and adventures that are suitable for all ages. Visitors can look forward to a memorable day that is also an important fundraiser for Rotary, as all the proceeds gathered from the entry fees will go to local charities. Feeling lucky? Buy a duck number for the exciting splash quack attack duck race and stand the chance to win a cash prize. Looking for a challenge? The splash Knysna lagoon mile swim (1850m) will commence at 10 am and the kids 10 years and younger can also enjoy the fun by entering into the junior swim (450m). The upcoming Rotary Knysna Splash Festival is a great way to end the year and will be packed with fun for all participating, from families with kids to water sport enthusiasts, spectators and holiday goers looking for a fun day out.

The popular Parlotones band has earned their place amongst some of South Africa’s top bands, and visitors enjoying their summer holiday in Mossel Bay or other areas of the Garden Route can look forward to a live performance by The Parlotones this December. The Parlotones have only just returned from their 20th anniversary European tour and will be gracing the Reedvalley outdoor stage on the 29th December – an epic end to the year and a great excuse to visit this beautiful destination. Tickets are available at only R 180 per person and all ages are welcome. Mossel Bay’s popular Reedvalley farm is a fantastic setting for a day outing and also offers its visitors activities such as wine tasting or enjoying delicious and traditional Portuguese inspired cuisine at their restaurant.
