7 December: Klassieke Klein Karoo Kersfees
Following the incredible success of its debut event last year, the Klassieke Klein Karoo Kersfees of 2019 (translating to the Classic Klein Karoo Christmas) will once again embrace the wonders of Christmas through music, with Corlea Botha and Jannie Moolman performing some of the most enchanting Christmas carols (or “Kersliedere”) as well as popular Afrikaans hits. Home to the Cango Caves and known as the Ostrich Capital of the world, Oudtshoorn is located inland from the stunning Garden Route, and guests can book from our Hello Garden Route range of holiday accommodation in Oudtshoorn. This lively show will be taking place at Celebratio Farm just outside of Oudtshoorn, and there will be plenty of food and drink stalls at the event.

13 – 16 December: Eden Kite Festival

The annual Eden Kite Festival brightens the sky with a myriad of expressive kites over the course of 3 spirited days in summer, while also uplifting the community as it aids the Masithandane Bursary Fund. The Eden Kite Festival of 2019 will dazzle and delight visitors and locals within the suburbs of George, Sedgefield and Knysna, and is ideal for outings with family, welcoming novice and expert kiters from near and far. Each year, the kite displays are unique and enchanting, while kite-making workshops offer firsthand insight. 14 – 16 December: Robberg Fine Foods Classic Beach Regatta
This summer and sea event attracts local and international sailors to the beautiful Garden Route coast over the festive season. This annual regatta promises another attractive fleet of sails that will race either around a set of buoys in the bay or else journey from the mouth of the Keurbooms lagoon to the Solar Beach “wreck”. Hosted by local company Robberg Fine Foods, this classic beach regatta brings together Hobie national and world champions, as well as sailors in search of new adventures and networking opportunities. For spectators and sailing enthusiasts attending this year’s Robberg Fine Foods Classic Beach Regatta, the beauty of Hobie beach and chance to meet and cheer on these sailors offers tons of excitement.

15 December: Jan Blohm Live in Sedgefield
Spend a lovely evening at Sedgefield’s popular PiliPili beachfront restaurant as South African talent Jan Blohm serenades a captive audience with some of his best hits. Jan Blohm is an award winning musician, talented songwriter and poetic muse, whose music has been described as a blend between rock and blues. Perfectly suited to the coastal setting of Sedgefield, the secret gem of the Garden Route, this live performance is sure to attract fans as well as introduce new audiences. Enjoy drinks and a delicious meal with friends and be entertained by some of Jan Blohm’s best Afrikaans songs, which could include 7 Jaar, Groen Trui and Ruby. 15 & 22 December: Christmas by Candlelight with Carpe Musicam
With the Christmas season being all about giving, this year’s Carpe Musicam Orchestra & Choir collects their entry fees as donations in aid of Masithandane (a registered NPO charity in the Garden Route) and the Carpe Musicam Development Project. The event will be hosted twice over the festive season, once at the Garden Route Botanical Gardens on the 15th December and then again at the Octopus Garden in Sedgefield on the 22nd December. Both events commence at 18h30 and those attending are asked to bring their own chairs and picnic foods, to ensure a comfortable setting from which to enjoy a lovely evening of music, song and cheer. A series of all time favourites and traditional songs will be performed by the Carpe Musicam Orchestra and Choir in honour of Christmas.
16 – 21 December: Boerevintage Gift Market at Redberry Farm
Taking place between 9 am and 5 pm every day from the 16th – 21st December, the 5th annual Boerevintage Gift Market at the wonderful Redberry Farm in George offers a cheerful setting for Christmas shopping in the Garden Route. This market is known as the biggest and best gift market in the Garden Route, with over 150 stalls and exhibitors from all over South Africa! The lovely Redberry Farm is a family friendly Garden Route attraction that can be enjoyed for strawberry picking and dining in a lovely natural setting, while there are plenty of fun activities to keep the kids entertained. Why not make a day of it… Start off with a delicious brunch at Redberry Farm’s welcoming tea garden, before embarking on an exciting shopping spree of gifts from the Boerevintage market, ending the day off by embarking on a blissful strawberry picking adventure.

18 December: Barrington’s Wine Festival
This exciting upcoming event presents the perfect opportunity for wine sipping under the summer sunshine, with some of Plettenberg Bay and the Cape’s best wine estates attending. With so many travelling to the Garden Route to experience the magic of Christmas, wine tasting at this memorable event shows off the beauty of some of the best local wines, such as wines from Bitou, Packwood, Newstead, Plettenvale and Bramon in Plettenberg Bay. 20 December: Matthew Mole Live in Knysna
Presented by Better Live and taking Knysna by storm this upcoming festive season, famous local musician Matthew Mole will be performing hits from his new album “Ghost”, as well as his meaningful new single “Let Me” at Knysna’s Blend Country Restaurant and Pub. This new album was only released in September and delves deep into Matthew’s personal reflections on love, vulnerability and relationships, creating a new level of openness between him and his fans. Matthew Mole wins over crowds with his easy going nature, humble personality and upbeat musical performances, not to mention that his talents also extent to playing the acoustic guitar, banjo, banjolele, piano and the ukulele. 23 December: Carols By Candlelight at Central Beach in Plettenberg Bay

28 December: Knysna Lagoon SPLASH Festival
A fun-filled, not to be missed festival for the entire family to enjoy, the 7th annual Knysna Splash Festival combines good natured competitiveness with entertainment for all ages. The SPLASH festival, hosted by the Rotary Club of Knysna, is a water-based event that supports important Knysna community projects and helps to raise funds for charity. The festival has become a highlight in summer and includes the Lagoon Mile Swim (1650m) and Junior Swim (450m), while everyone looks forward to the Quack Attack Duck Race, where hundreds of spectators bet on their duck of choice and gather along the canal at The Waterfront to watch up to 1 500 ducks racing to the finish point, carried along the water by the wind. For those who bet on one of the first three ducks to complete the race, great prizes are up for grabs!

31 December: Get Lucky Summer New Years Eve
Two of South Africa’s most iconic rival bands, namely GoldFish and GoodLuck, finally come together on not only one but two Garden Route stages with their unique organic house and electronic rock music performances. Dance your way into 2020 with two of the Garden Route’s biggest NYE parties, taking place under the dazzling night sky in two of the most outstanding destinations in the country. Get Lucky Summer boasts an incredible line-up of DJs, amazing bands and live acts who are yet to be announced, while GoldFish and GoodLuck will be stealing the show. VIP areas, raised decks, elevated view points and captivating artist meet and greets will form part of this not-to-be-missed event, which will expand to the Plettenberg Bay Edition at the Robberg Rugby Club and the Knysna Edition, taking place at the Knysna School Fields.
