Adding to the appeal of the incredible Knysna Ziplines is the consideration and passion that went into the project, which involved 3 years of planning, constructing and testing. Then Managing Director of SA Forest Adventures, Clinton Lerm, expressed his excitement at opening this adventure to the public, stating that this was their biggest project to date. Staying true to SANparks vision of sustainability within their park systems, locally sourced products and materials were used in the building of the Ziplines, with the exception of the recycled plastic material and specialized equipment that was specially imported. The use of plastic cables significantly reduces noise pollution, keeping with the calm and tranquil environment.
Whilst plans are in place to introduce more affordable domestic rates to South African citizens, opening specials for locals are running during October 2020 and bookings are essential, as capacity is limited due to COVID-19 regulations. You can also rent a GoPro to look back on footage of your experience and the option is available to be driven into the park by one of the SA Forest Adventure vehicles at an additional cost. This exciting zipline project is expected to greatly increase the amount of international visitors to Knysna, while also boosting tourism across the Garden Route after a challenging start to 2020.
