Views @ La Vista Lodge

My partner and I recently got spoilt with a night’s stay at the beautiful La Vista Lodge in Plettenberg Bay.

The VIEWS from this vantage point are just breathtakingly – occupying (very likely) THE most prime position in this sought-after holiday destination, this is what sells La Vista Lodge, as the name suggests. Well, that and the food and the service and and and.  La Vista Lodge ticks all the boxes!

We were given a very warm welcome, even our bags carried, a nice little luxury you don’t often receive at Guest Houses nowadays. The manager, Cornelle, showed us to our room: None other than the Honeymoon Suite…Sweet!

It’s a super spacious suite occupying the first floor of this triple-storey house so as you can image, the views from the private patio are nothing less than spectacular. The previous day, guests were whale-watching from their rooms. Unfortunately, on the day of our arrival it was a tad overcast but that didn’t stop us from sitting outside and soaking up the endless, uninterrupted sea, lagoon & mountain views. It’s rather unlikely that you could ever get tired of these vistas!

Finally gathering our thoughts, after staring far off into the distance for what seemed like hours, we got ready for a dinner date at the one-and-only Ristorante Enrico in Keurboomstrand, an easy 15 minute drive from the Lodge. We met some friends there and proceeded to enjoy a most delectable feast… for starters was the recommended ‘Bomba’ (traditional Italian, home-made bread of sorts) followed by possibly the best pizza I have ever devoured!!  Being my first visit, it’s most definitely not my last. Everything on that menu was mouthwatering and by their rave reviews, deemed the best restaurant in the whole of Plett, we will be back!

It turned out to be a rather late evening but thankfully, before we headed out, Cornelle graciously instructed us to please sleep in the next day. To totally relax and unwind. We can stroll down to breakfast whenever we’re ready. How refreshing, considering some places you have to rush, avoiding the ‘cut off’ time. They just scored another ‘tick’ with HelloGardenRoute.

Being obedient guests, that’s exactly what we did. A very leisurely morning was enjoyed, again sitting on our patio now soaking up the sun (crisp, fresh, glorious morning) and views with a fresh cuppa percolated coffee.

We casually headed downstairs to where a beautifully appointed table set on the undercover patio was awaiting our arrival. The order went as follows: Fresh orange juice, cappuccinos, fruit salad and yogurt, cold meats & cheeses, fig and strawberry preserves, croissants, various bread rolls. We took it real slow as there was more to come…

Choice between various hot breakfasts: I went with an Omellette-a-la-Queen (as I like to call it), stuffed with cream cheese, mushrooms and fried onion; my partner opted for their house-special Eggs Benedict which too was out of the world!

La Vista Lodge also serves dinners, upon request. Think candle-lit dinners either on the balcony, alternatively indoors next to the fireplace, both with golden sunset views. I think we’ll have to be invited back just to experience that!

Bellies full and allowed to check-out late (no-one checking into our suite that day), we retreated back to our Room to recline on the sunloungers yet again. Time to digest not only the food but the relaxing ambiance too!

It wasn’t easy dragging ourselves up from the sunloungers and packing up but time was ticking by and as the saying goes:  The Show Must Go On!

A big thank-you to Cornelle and Shannon from La Vista Lodge for having us over. HelloGardenRoute will be sure to send many a happy traveler your way.
