Mom and I were indulged & pampered during our recent stay at Lodge on the Lake, returning home relaxed & rejuvenated! Ah bliss…
Having gone to school with the manager, Rory, we struck up a great working relationship from the get-go and I was most keen when offered a night’s stay. His wife actually heads up the on-site Wellness Spa ~ they make a great team, going out of their way to ensure guests enjoy every second of their sojourn!
Rory met us with a warm welcome and showed us to our beautifully appointed Loerie Room…with a view-and-a-half! What sells this property are the views & location. Absolute perfection!
Nestled on a hillside overlooking the spectacular & popular Island Lake, surrounded by the panoramic Outeniqua Mountains, one can easily spend all day just lazing at the poolside or on your private balcony, basking in the sun and taking in the panoramic views. And that’s exactly what we did…well, besides Spa Treatments, of course 🙂
Our stay went as follows…
1) Arrive for check-in
2) Spa Treatments
3) Dinner at Views Boutique Hotel & Spa (just down the road)
4) Good night’s rest in our tranquil surroundings
5) Breakfast next to the pool (the omelets are a must!)
6) Soak up some sun on the loungers
7) Swim (a lot)
Lodge on the Lake only has 5 rooms and, together with their no children policy, guests are ensured of a most peaceful and intimate stay.
Lodge on the Lake is situated on the outskirts of Wilderness, making it an ideal base from which to explore various gems of the Garden Route. Wilderness village & beach is a mere 5 minute drive, Knysna 30 minutes and Plettenberg Bay 45 minutes (approximate figures). One can even venture out to Oudtshoorn, a very do-able day outing. For avid golfers, Fancourt, Pezula & Simola aren’t far off.
