Sun, sand and sea may be the traditional trifecta of a great summer, but why not elevate your summertime fun with an incredible opportunity to get up close and personal with seals? Plett Seal Adventures provides residents and visitors to the stunning coastal town of Plettenberg Bay with an unforgettable marine experience, snorkelling with these playful and curious creatures.
Plett Seal Adventures offers guests of (almost) all ages a 1.5 hour guided tour snorkelling with the majestic seals in the Robberg Nature Reserve – a marine protected area in Plettenberg Bay. Your seal adventure begins with a fun 20-minute boat ride to the seal colony which is home to over 6000 fur seals. Once you are in place and ready to dive, a diving master will join you in the water, guiding inexperienced or nervous snorkelers all while entertaining you with fun facts about the seals. Your guides will also take plenty of photos and short videos during the boat trip and in the water, allowing you to enjoy yourself and live in the moment without worrying about missing out on Instagram-mable moments. All photos and videos are free to download from the Plett Seal Adventures website at any time.
The snorkelling part of the trip is 30 minutes, allowing for plenty of time to splash about with one of nature’s cutest creatures. Afterwards, a scenic boat trip will take you back to the beach for a shower. For those of us not quite ready to jump in, Plett Seal Adventures also offers a “dry option”. Guests can stay in the boat, keep the skipper company during the snorkelling part and take plenty of pictures without getting too friendly with the seals. It’s a win-win!
Guests can relax and enjoy their maritime adventure with ease, knowing that all equipment is supplied and no experience is required to take part. The professional and experienced skipper and diving master will ensure the safety of every guest regardless of personal snorkelling experience. While the group does not swim long distances, life jackets, wetsuits and additional flotation devices (e.g. life vests or floaties) are provided to ensure your safety. If you are not a strong swimmer, the guides are more than happy to keep an extra eye on you. Should you require an extra hand, the instructors are very experienced in supporting disabled swimmers, providing safe adventuring for everyone.
