The beautiful coastal setting of Mossel Bay will be collaborating with the local Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) to present an exciting summer event that is not to be missed. The remarkable Dias & Ports Festival can be enjoyed by visitors across a span of four days, from Thursday 31 January to Sunday 3 February 2019.
This year’s event will be a very special one as the festival will be incorporating activities that are aimed at celebrating the rich maritime history of Mossel Bay, which is South Africa’s oldest port and one of the most alluring attractions in the Garden Route. One of the famous attractions that visitors can visit close to Mossel Bay’s port is the Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex, home to a spectacular life-size replica of the Dias Caravel, a 500 year old post office tree, a shell museum, aquarium and even stunning ethno-botanical gardens. The Diaz Express and Fragrance Route Tour is also a popular adventure to consider when visiting Mossel Bay.
In addition to some of the favourite event activities from previous years, there will be a range of new activities on offer at this year’s event, with something to appeal to every age, interest and taste. Some of the country’s favourite musicians will be gracing the stage this year with a diverse range of music, so pack in your dancing shoes and be sure to bring your best dance moves along too! Some of the amazing local and national artists performing live at this year’s Dias & Port Festival include Snotkop, Jamali, ADAM, Charlize Berg, Emo Adams, Nadia Herbst, Katinka and TjekitKwagga, Refentse and Brendan Peyper, to mention just a few.
The programme of action-packed activities taking place at this year’s Dias & Port festival will include tug boat rides, an inspired street parade, cultural showcases to capture the attention of plenty, arts and crafts markets and more than enough children’s entertainment. There will even be a career expo available to younger groups (though this could really be of interest to anyone) and an array of food and drinks stalls, a beer tent and a lovely tea garden. Best of all, entry to the event and all music performances are free to all!
Mossel Bay’s popular Dias & Port Festival has previously been described as wonderful, with friendly people and a great mixture of attractions, enjoyed during one of the hottest months of the year. Mossel Bay itself is considered to be the place where cultures and nature meet. For those visiting Mossel Bay for the first time, this festival near the coast comes highly recommended and will be a memorable outing filled with fun experiences and famous Garden Route hospitality. Mossel Bay is packed with things-to-do with loved ones.
