On your marks, ready, set…go!!

Are you ready for the ISUZU IRONMAN 70.3 Championship? This exhilarating event is taking place once more on 16 November 2025 in the Western Cape province of South Africa.

The ISUZU IRONMAN 70.3 Mossel Bay African TriClub Championship is a massive triathlon event held in Mossel Bay and is part of the global Ironman 70.3 series, and serves as the African TriClub Championship that attracts individual athletes and triathlon clubs from across the continent. This event follows the standard Ironman 70.3 format, also known as the Half IRONMAN.

First and foremost, the race starts with a 1.9-kilometre sea swim. The swim starts at the historic Santos Beach and finishes at De Bakke Beach. The course features a rolling start, which means athletes start the race in smaller groups at set intervals rather than all at once. This is determined according to age groups for athletes and wetsuits are optional depending on the temperature of the water, which is on average 19.1°C (66.4°F).

After completing the swimming section of the race, athletes move on to the 90-kilometre bike ride which is known for its hilly terrain and scenic views of Mossel Bay’s coastline and surrounding mountains.

Once the bike race section of the triathlon is completed, the final and remaining format of the race is the 21.1-kilometre run. The run consists of three laps through the beating heart of Mossel Bay, showcasing the history of the town and ending at the iconic Santos Beach finish line.

This triathlon is a one-of-a-kind experience enjoyed by participants not only for its challenging course, but also for the beautiful scenery and lively local culture of Mossel Bay. The event is well-known all over, especially for its festive atmosphere and the opportunity for triathlon clubs to come together and compete on this continental stage.

Mossel Bay is known for its mild, sunny climate, pristine beaches and rich marine activities, making it a popular Garden Route destination.
