Garden Route Walking Fest

This year, the Garden Route will also host the first ever Garden Route Walking Fest.

In line with other walking festivals around the world, the Garden Route Walking Fest aims to showcase the beauty of the Garden Route to walkers through collaboration with local walk leaders, community guides and professional walking guides, who share their local knowledge and passion for walking

The festival focusses on the area between George and Storms River and offers over 52 different walks. With easy beach walks, to a challenging ascent of either George Peak or Peak Formosa, the festival caters for walkers with different fitness levels; from the comfort seekers to those with a spirit of adventure.

While the festival includes traditional walks such as the Brown-Hooded Kingfisher Trail or

Circles in the Forest Elephant Walk, there are walks such as Geo-Caching walk, a Naked in Nature walk and an Underwater Walk guided by renowned underwater photographer Fiona Ayerst. A collection of festive walks, such as the Fancy Dress Masked Walk at sundown, or the Love Me Love My Dog walk in aid of PAWS, are sure to attract people from every walk of life.

The extensive programme features many unusual walks, such as the walk with poetry and the yoga walk. Evening walks include walks such as Walk Through the Night Sky, presented by local astronomers, and the famous Moonlight Meander guided by local legend Judy Dixon.
