No matter who you are and what you believe in, there is something special about Christmas. It is a time to relax, spend time with friends & family and to create memories. Finding the perfect gift for a loved one is almost as satisfying as the giving of it. For anyone searching for that unique gift, George has a magnificent collection of Christmas Markets this December.
ekliefkrismis kersmark is more than just a Christmas market, it is a Christmas experience. The market was started when Eden Gemeente couldn’t raise enough money for their annual Angel’s Breakfast, a project similar to the Santa Shoebox Project, hosting 200 preschoolers in collaboration with Life Community Church.
Amanda and Lorinda, the mother and daughter team responsible for this outstanding market, not only love beautiful things but also have a shared passion for making the world a better place. Amanda used to be a florist before moving to George almost 2 decades ago and Lorinda uses her Master’s Degree in biochemistry in service of CANSA.
ekliefkrismis is a market that aims to take your breath away. Sourcing handmade products from all over South Africa, the market offers unique items that shoppers will not usually find in George. A former nursery, the 110 stalls are being housed in the spacious building and visitors will never feel crowded or trampled while there is more than enough safe parking.
Except for being a fundraiser for the church, the market annually supports a local charity in partnership with local supermarkets. Inspired by Cody, the pony who survived the Knysna Fires, ekliefkrismis decided to support the SPCA in 2017. The market also looks after two outreach programs namely Hope Art and Cotton Crochet Company whose products will be on sale at the market.
The market takes place from 13 to 23 December at Eden Place. With the market supporting the SPCA, a special Doggie Walk will take place on the 16th of December with spectacular prices for participating dogs.
This is the first year that the market expanded to Herolds Bay as ekliefkrismis by die see. This smaller market, taking place at the NG Church Herolds Bay, will be hosting 50 unique stalls and will be taking place from 18 to 23 December.
The Outeniqua Kersmark is an institution on the local George calendar. This year the market is celebrating its 21st birthday and is the oldest and biggest Christmas market in the Southern Cape.
A perfect platform for volunteer and charity organizations to raise funds, the market also offers and opportunity for many retirees to sell their products.
The market takes place from 5 to 20 December at the Moedergemeente George.
