There are some things in life that require no skill and instantly transport us back to our childhood. Trampolines are definitely one of these! Is it any wonder that trampoline parks like Rush, Bounce and Jump4Joy are so popular? On the 1st of January 2017, the Garden Route got its own trampoline park in the form of Elevate Trampoline Park.
The park is a welcome addition to the activities scene in the Garden Route. Well known as the adventure belt of South Africa, the Eden district has much to offer for families in the great outdoors yet, during bad weather and the cold winter months, the choices are a lot more limited. Elevate is aiming to change all that.
Housed in a huge indoor facility at 13 Meul Street, George Industria, the park was designed around the success story of existing trampoline parks as well as the needs and desires of the owners’ own children. The free zone features more than 60 interconnected trampolines offering a staggering 600 m² for jumpers to have fun and do tricks to their hearts desire.
With features such as an integrated trampoline dodge-ball court (and a dodge-ball league), two basketball rings, a gladiator beam over a foampit and 45° sides to double back on your favourite moves, the park has something for everyone. Trampoline jump boards offer an ideal platform to practice and show off snowboard, wakeboard and Parkour or ‘free-running’ skills.
In a brilliant move, Elevate Trampoline Park appointed the 10 best gymnasts from SKAT Gymnastics Club as Elevate ambassadors. The Elevate ambassadors will regularly do trampoline coaching and training with the public and will be frequently found on the trampolines.
Elevate does have a minimum age limit of 4 years for the trampoline and strongly recommends that there is one adult present for every 5 kids. An adult in the party is required for kids up to 16 years. All jumpers are required to wear trampoline socks for both hygienic reasons and for the traction the rubber soles provides.
The park offers a mini climbing wall for the smaller jumpers while a kiddies play area is available for family members younger than four. A fully stocked kiosk offers cool drinks, snacks, coffee and also one of the first two ‘Hug in a Mug’ machines in the garden route. Snacks can be enjoyed at the seating area between the trampoline park and the skating rink.
In addition to trampolines, Elevate also added a skating rink for roller skates, roller blades, hoverboards and skateboards. It is an old-school style skating rink with no intimidating professional obstacles and jumps. It is advisable to bring your own skates as a limited number of skates are available for hire.
The owners put safety first, and there will be full CCTV coverage. Elevate staff will receive regular coaching in general trampoline safety to make sure that visitors are properly looked after
Jumping sessions is 1 ½ hours and is from 10:00 until 20:30 with an extra session to 22:00 on Saturdays and Sundays. Priced at R95.00 per session for seniors and R75.00 for juniors (shorter than 1.2m), and with a trampoline weigh limit of 200kg per square meter, there is absolutely no reason not to release your inner child. During busy periods, Elevate recommends that sessions are pre-booked online to avoid disappointed as well as the once off indemnity completed, to speed up the registration process.
During the off-season, Elevate plans to offer special packages for locals including fitness classes, corporate team buildings and loyalty programs.
