Eden Kite Festival 2018

The Garden Route’s annual Eden Kite Festival is uplifting in every sense of the word, not only through the hundreds upon hundreds of colourful kites that fill the blue skies and tell a thousand stories but also through its amazing cause. The funds that are raised through this beloved event will go toward the regional Non-Profit Organization known as Masithandane, providing much needed bursary funds as well as basic schooling necessities and transport to students.

With the start of summer, this event is the perfect way to celebrate the beautiful Garden Route with family and friends as well as the community at large. Kite flying is synonymous with childlike bliss and contentment and leaves little room for the stresses of life. As the fourth Eden Kite Festival is to take place in the beautiful Garden Route of South Africa, those attending will create amazing memories! Furthermore, the event organizers have recently announced that the festival will be held over two days this year instead of just one.

Kiting enthusiasts and kite maker’s from around the world mark this exciting event on their calendar and many even design kites especially for the festival, with past kite designs already including a dinosaur, a phoenix and even amazing sea creatures. Feature kiters announced for the Eden Kite Festival this year include Sedgefield’s local Keith Mould, who has played a longstanding and integral role in the organizing committee of the Cape Town Kite Festival, as well as Peter Helcoup from the United Kingdom. For many, the Eden Kite Festival inspires their vacation plans and offers the opportunity to enjoy a day, two days or even an extended holiday stay in this sought-after destination, surrounded by the fresh ocean and mountain air.

The Eden Kite Festival will be primarily sponsored by Lew Geffen Sotheby’s International Realty as per usual and will bring together local talents and traders from around the stunning Garden Route to set up stalls selling their products. This unique festival showcases some wonderful kites that vary in their design, size and shape and light up the sky in colours. Kites can be purchased at the event.
