Garden Route National Parks

Adventure awaits you in Garden Route National Parks from Tsitsikamma to Knysna and Wilderness!

Adventure awaits you along the Southern Coast of South Africa, one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the world and home to the magnificent Garden Route National Parks.

The Tsitsikamma, Knysna and Wilderness Lake districts are world renowned. Impeccably managed by South African National Parks, you’ll find indigenous forest, fynbos as well as beautiful land- and seascapes from mountain to oceans exploring these areas. It’s a prime example of our country’s unique fauna and flora diversity. An experience unlike any other!

There is a variety of accommodation options throughout these areas including hotels, guest lodges and self-catering options. Activities on offer are hiking, mountain biking, abseiling, birding, canoeing, snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing…the list is endless. Garden Route National Parks are outdoor enthusiasts’ playground!

Tsitsikamma National Park – experience the great outdoors, fantastic marine and other eco life, thick fynbos and adventure-packed holidays with a ton of activities. This is a prime scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking, hiking, swimming, climbing, abseiling, mountain biking, sailing and bungee jumping hotspot.

Knysna National Park – Nestled within the tidal lagoon and open estuary, dominated by the famous Knysna Heads is the Knysna Lake district. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks or more rigid hikes through the dense forests, home to ancient ‘Big Trees’, alternatively picnics along the water’s edge observing the birdlife and resident marine creatures. This is home to the endangered, tiny Knysna Seahorse who lives amongst the seaweed, blending skillfully in with his natural surroundings. Knysna is a very popular for some of the country’s top mountain bike trails!

Wilderness National Park – The ever popular ‘The Place to Be’, situated in the heart of the Garden Route, offers a perfect combination of golden, long-stretch beaches, rivers, lagoons, waterfalls and lakes. With a backdrop of forest and mountains, it’s the epitome of natural beauty. An exciting playground for young and old alike – enjoy land based dolphin and whale watching from Dolphin’s Point, hire a canoe and take to the Touw River, enjoy a walk along the Kingfisher Trail which leads up to a majestic waterfall, rent a bicycle in town and explore the backroads, go abseiling or kloofing (or both) in Kaaimans, take to the sky paragliding or hangliding from the Map of Africa and last but not least…GO FISH! Wilderness offers amazing fishing opportunities at Kaaimans, Touw River or on the beach.

One thing is for sure, it’s called the Garden Route for a reason. Come and see for yourself!
